Job Title: Reference Librarian (Temporary Position)

Job Summary:Library Jobs is currently seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Reference Librarian for a temporary position. The successful candidate will provide exceptional reference and research assistance to library patrons, demonstrating expertise in locating and accessing information resources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist patrons in conducting research and accessing information resources
  • Provide guidance on utilizing library resources effectively, including digital databases and online catalogs
  • Conduct information literacy sessions and workshops for library users
  • Develop and maintain specialized subject guides and research tools
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance library services and resources
  • Assist with collection development and management as needed
  • Participate in library outreach activities and programs

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Master degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills
  • Proficiency in conducting reference interviews and performing advanced research
  • Knowledge of library classification systems and information retrieval methods
  • Experience using integrated library systems and online databases
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and patron needs
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in library services

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a library reference or research role preferred

Working Hours:This is a temporary position with flexible scheduling, averaging 20-25 hours per week.
