- Lead the development/implementation of innovative and best practice corporate communications strategies that support our brand business objectives, including launch preparedness, disease awareness and marketing initiatives with compelling content for corporate audiences including media, investors, and leveraging digital channels
- Responsible for the development, maintenance and review/approval process of key product communications materials, including narrative/messaging, scenario plans, briefing documents, scripts, media assets, etc. for corporate audiences
- In partnership with IR/Corp Communications team and commercial colleagues, develop creative and compelling messaging and multimedia content to communicate the value of our medicine to external corporate stakeholders and to Geron employees
- In partnership with Human Resources, drive employee awareness and understanding about hematologic malignancies, our therapeutic area of focus, through meaningful organizational communications and employee engagement campaigns that educate, inspire and unite our organization
- In partnership with Advocacy, build external partner trust and engagement through proactive outreach efforts and communications programming with patient communities
- Support the VP of Sales and VP of Marketing in coordinating corporate message consistency and seeding relevant corporate talking points into communications to Field Force
- Partner with the Commercial team to identify, monitor and mitigate potential risks among key stakeholders, including payers, providers and patients
- Supervise agency partners to drive tactical execution of communications strategies, managing associated budgets and ensuring that communications goals are achieved
- Partner with colleagues to secure assets for communication activations, such as third-party spokespeople (KOLs, patients, advocates); advise, prepare and coordinate with such spokespeople
- Design and support scalable infrastructure (processes, tools and templates) to enable best-in-class end-to-end project delivery and establish brand and therapeutic area communications within Geron
- Measure and track program effectiveness through qualitative and quantitative methods
- Develop a keen understanding of various cross-functional audiences and their needs, common interdependencies
- Conduct regular checkpoints with key partners such as commercial and medical affairs to ensure alignment and collaboration
- Handle multiple, critical communications projects simultaneously and independently while representing the IR/Communications function to multiple key internal and external partners
Experience & Competencies
- At least 12 years of experience in biotech or pharmaceutical communications, preferably including experience at a commercial-stage company; experience with oncology and/or hematology preferred
- Deep experience leading portfolio and/or product communications including disease awareness, patient engagement/outreach initiatives and brand communications
- Extremely strong verbal, written and presentation communication skills and an ability to summarize complex medical and scientific information using terms and concepts that are most relevant and appropriate for different audiences
- Individual must be well-organized, a self-starter with strong attention to detail and able to manage multiple ongoing projects simultaneously
- The ideal candidate will be comfortable working virtually across multiple time zones
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and meet deadlines in a dynamic, complex and fast-paced team environment and to collaborate cross-functionally with business partners to achieve business objectives
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise judgment and discretion
- Willingness to learn new tasks
- Proficient in Power Point, Excel, Word and formatting materials
- Travel may be required, up to 10% of the time, including travel to offices in either Foster City, CA or Parsippany, NJ as needed
