What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
– Verify and correct transcriptions of documents
– Transcribe incoming correspondence and other documents
– Encode transcriptions into TEI-XML
– Participate in team meetings
– Assist with updating and refining verifying and transcription policies
What is Required (Qualifications):
– Master’s degree in library science, history, or related discipline
– Two to five years of professional experience
– Experience conducting historical research in primary and secondary materials
– Familiarity with the library or archival environment
– Successful contribution to digital humanities projects
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
– Familiarity with Mary Baker Eddy, her ideas, and the history of The First Church of Christ, Scientist
– Ability to read cursive handwriting
– Excellent manuscript transcription skills
– Experience with TEI-XML and Oxygen Editor
– Proficiency in computer applications for content management, document editing, and teleconferencing
