We are responsible for enabling enterprises to connect their on-premises networks and devices to the cloud, in the most secure and performant way possible.

The Azure Networking Team is growing and we’re looking for a creative Cloud Network Engineer who can combine networking experience with software development fundamentals to help build the world’s best private backbone network and Software Defined Netowrking (SDN) platform. We’re passionate about automating every facet of the network to converge on a self-growing, self-healing network. We want a Cloud Network Engineer that is equally passionate and can look at the problems with a customer’s perspective to create user experiences that truly enable and empower Technicians, Engineers and Planners.

Focusing on the Express Route and Global backbone Networks, and working closely with partner teams in Azure Networking, you’ll be a critical part designing and developing automation and large-scale services that drive our network to autonomy. This will include owning components from design through to deployment and operations. This is a high visibility position in an area of large and expanding investment for Microsoft Azure and offers a terrific opportunity for technical and career growth.

Responsibilities

  • When issues arise, you troubleshoot live site issues to discover and drive solutions with minimal or no disruption to customers. You also perform testing and validation of network devices, and demonstrate some knowledge of data. You know what data is needed and how to find new or missing data. You provide instructions to the data center on how to repair and maintain physical network hardware, and take notes during incidents.
  • In addition, you will participate in postmortem and root-cause analysis processes to continuously improve network reliability. You support innovation and cost management by developing new ideas for systems and tools that meet customer and/or business needs. You proactively share information across disciplines within your feature team in a timely manner with an appropriate level of detail that is tailored to your audience. You provide feedback and some mentorship to other engineers, while also proactively seeking mentorship and feedback from others.
Qualifications

 

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation
    • OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
    • OR Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical experience in network design, development, and automation.
  • 2+ years of experience in two or more of the following:
    • C#, Golang, C++,Python and Linux/Unix/Windows systems programming
    • RESTful Services
    • Networking.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
