What to Expect

Remote Support Engineer provides control and monitoring support for specific industrial battery energy storage facilities under the jurisdiction of Tesla and governing bodies.

This primarily involves continuously monitoring the site for any abnormalities and deviations from expected operating behavior and expeditiously acting when required, as well as adjusting the control/operating mode of the system as required by the governing bodies.

This includes escalating to engineering teams for rapid issue resolution, as well communicating with the governing bodies to notify them of the situation and action plans.

For this position Remote Support Engineers will work a paired graveyard shift position, working 10-hour shifts, 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., supporting a 24/7 environment.

Scheduled shifts are Sunday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday, typically 3 days off.

Shift times and coverage will be based on the business need.

Onsite role: Fremont, Palo Alto, or Lathrop, CA

The Tesla Energy team is committed, and fast moving, consisting of applications engineers, power and control systems engineers, project engineers, product support engineers that sit at the center of business development, Tesla technology, the deployment and service of stationary storage projects on the grid.

What You’ll Do

  • Monitor system performance and availability to ensure contractual obligations are being met
  • Remotely operate and control the facilities SCADA systems to control and monitor the industrial battery storage system in accordance with the governing body the facilities SCADA systems
  • Monitor and respond to alarms annunciated on Tesla’s proprietary monitoring platform
  • Act as the main point of contact for the governing bodies regarding required shutdowns, or events affecting facility operation
  • Always use 3-way communication when instructed to execute commands
  • Assist with projects on other energy products like Superchargers, PV Commercial etc.
  • Conduct additional duties as required

What You’ll Bring

  • Capable of working in a 24/7 environment, working 10 hour shifts, including weekends
  • Can interpret electrical single line diagrams.
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Grasps basic concepts of electricity (AC/DC, current, voltage, resistance, power, etc…)
  • Ability to independently make decisions, and escalate when necessary
  • Authorization to work in the US without sponsorship
