nagement Supervisor is the key contact for Operations Services for a group of schools within the Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE). Within the assigned schools, the Building Management Supervisor is responsible for building safety systems, custodial staffing, maintenance coordination, security procedures and is the primary liaison between school-based staff and the greater maintenance team.

Duties include staff supervision, performance reviews, assigning routine maintenance tasks, performing inspections, planning fire drills and other emergency drills, participating in facility meetings, regulatory sign off, and coordination with HRCE maintenance personnel and external service providers.

The Building Management Supervisor will be integral in the development of best work practices, and consistent application of quality assurance standards for the HRCE.

The Building Management Supervisor reports to the Manager, Property Services – Custodial, and must communicate regularly with School-based staff to ensure Operations Services responsibilities are met in support of public school programming.

Qualifications

(a) Minimum five years experience working in the operation and/or maintenance of facilities;

(b) Minimum three years experience supervising twenty-five plus employees in a maintenance or custodial environment;

(c) Technical certificate in a building operations/maintenance discipline from a recognized Community College, or equivalent experience;

(d) Experience working in a unionized environment;

(e) Valid Nova Scotia driver’s license and clean driving record. Access to and ability to operate a reliable vehicle to travel between assigned schools.

This is a Professional Employees Group (PEG) position on the Pay Band 5 salary scale with an annual range of $52,936 to $66,170. Professional Employees Group (PEG) Terms and Conditions of Employment apply.
