Under the general direction of the Software Operations Lead and Senior Database Administrators, will assist in the design, planning,
implementation and tuning of corporate database management systems to meet the Corporation’s objectives for security, availability
and performance. As a member of the DBA team, you will provide assistance on database management systems to various
developer groups.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Senior Database Administrators in the administration of the corporation’s database environments, ensuring that they

are secure and maintained at maximum availability and optimum performance, upgraded in a timely and orderly fashion,
monitored, improved or expanded as required to meet the corporation’s objectives.

  • Provide expertise for the development and implementation of corporate databases.
  • Work as a team member on database related projects.
  • Assist to establish, review, and maintain standards for corporate database environments; ensuring database designs adhere

to those standards.

  • Assist in designing and maintaining the backup, restart and recovery procedures for corporate databases.
  • Monitor and tune corporate databases for optimum response and performance.
  • Provide on-going support and troubleshooting for corporate database environments.
  • Keep abreast of and assess new developments in database and related technology, including but not limited to database

management software, tools and techniques.

  • Ensure adherence to Change Management procedures in all aspects of database support.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with other corporate technical groups.
  • Will be required to be on call to provide system support outside of regular working hours.
  • Will work overtime when required and must be prepared to report to work at any time during 24 hour period to assure system

reliability.

Qualifications:

  • A four year degree in Computer Science from a university of recognized standing with a minimum of two years of directly

application experience in a DBA support role of major operational Oracle and/or SQL Server database system.
OR

  • A two year diploma in Computer or Information Technology from an institute of recognized standing with a minimum of four

years of directly applicable experience in a DBA support role of major operational Oracle and/or SQL Server database
system.

  • Knowledgeable in the implementation, maintenance, and administration of databases.
  • Possess a working knowledge of programming in database environments.

  • Knowledge of Windows PowerShell and/or UNIX shell scripting.
  • Ability to write technical material in a clear concise manner.

  • Demonstrated ability to acquire technical knowledge and apply it correctly in Information Technology solutions.
  • Experience in participating in various types and sized of Information Technology projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver presentations.
  • Possess an analytical, self-motivating nature, with mature judgment and the ability to make and implement sound decisions.
  • Demonstrated commitment to keep up to date with current technology.
