The Senior Big Data Software Engineer is responsible for the development of high performance, distributed computing tasks using Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, NoSQL, text mining and other distributed environment technologies. Familiarity with JVM-based function languages including Scala and Clojure; Hadoop query languages including Pig, Hive, Scalding, Cascalog, PyCascading; along with alternative HDFS-based computing frameworks including Spark and STORM are desirable.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Design, build, and present on-prem to Data transformation solutions, systems, and applications to address customer needs. This will be tailored to projects related to the Telecommunications industry with specific functional components like:
    • Billing, sales, finance, network, inventory, customer profiling, marketing, etc.
  • Need Snowflake technical expertise by understanding business challenges and architecting Data warehouse solutions powered using Snowflake to address them.
  • Leverage expertise in Snowflake’s Data Cloud and the latest advancements in data migration and customized solutions to build POCs and prototypes that demonstrate value to clients.
  • Learn and leverage the latest Snowflake public release features in our CDO Snowflake Team to collaborate on creating leading edge demos, PoC’s, and advanced industry solutions.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in data platform technologies and all the rapidly evolving Data, and snowflake Native Apps capabilities, and identify opportunities to incorporate them into CDO customer solutions.
  • Develop technical presentations and conduct workshops and hackathons to share expertise on Data engineering best practices.
  • Work closely with User Migration team, solution architects, and data managers to drive technical solutioning and develop complex Snowflake powered data solutions into business impact.

 

What You’ll Bring

  • 2-3+ years of Snowflake development experience in Data Engineering and architecting, building, and demonstrating data solutions.
  • Experience in the telecommunications industry related to reporting and data integration.
  • Experience integrating Snowflake solutions with the major cloud platforms and leveraging their pre-built capabilities.
  • Experience with Snowflake, Azure cloud, reference architectures and Building PoC’s.
  • Expertise in building robust data engineering frameworks, Azure cloud, python/JAVA/Scala, and Data bricks (Apache Spark).
  • Knowledge of Snowflake Data engineering best practices around data modelling, evaluation, deployment, and governance.
  • Experience working with Data engineers, Architects, and operation engineers.
  • Ability to identify and articulate the business value of data powered technologies to stakeholders.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and storytelling skills to influence leadership with business decision-makers.
  • Passion for data and ability to stay updated on latest advancements through conferences, publications, cohorts etc.

 

Required / Desired Skills

  • Data Warehousing (At least 3 Years)
  • Functional understanding of Telecommunications industry (At least 3 Years)
  • Snowflake (At least 2 Years)
  • Azure Cloud (At least 2 Years)
  • Unix/Linux shell scripting (At least 2-3 years)
  • Java/Python/Scala (At least 2-3 years)

 

Education and Qualifications:

  • University Degree/master’s degree in computer science and/or Data Analytics preferred

 

Minimum Experience required:

  • 2-3-years’ experience in relational database design / Datawarehouse/Data Engineering Development
  • Candidates having Certification on Snowflake, Python, Data bricks and Azure cloud technologies are preferred.

 

Our Senior Big Data Software Engineering, earn between $116,700 – $175,100. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
