rong>About Us:

The Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Release Compensation Board manages the Financial Assurance Fund (Fund), a risk pool financing mechanism used to reimburse underground storage tank (UST) owners for the corrective action costs of releases from petroleum USTs.

What You’ll Do:

Maintain and update aged accounts receivable files. Certify aged accounts receivable to the Attorney General’s Office for collection. Work with the Attorney General’s Office to collect fees from non-complying owners; negotiate reduced fees and late payment penalties; advise Special Counsel; and may provide testimony regarding outstanding fees and orders to pay. Maintain invoice, refund, assurability, and compliance databases; make changes to existing accounts for billing and collection of payments.

Performs complex UST owner account reconciliations, including using knowledge of O.R.C. 3737 and rules of the Board to determine exemption, ownership rights, and rights to refunds; research UST disposition and evaluate required Fund participation; may assess additional fees and initiate refunds; re-apply payments for account adjustments. Recommend refunds of erroneously paid fees for payment and/or offset of outstanding fees; recommends write-offs and uncollectible fees for account closure. Understands and applies rules of the State Fire Marshal and make referrals to the State Fire Marshal, if necessary. Respond to public inquiries concerning requirements of Fund participation.

Participate in cross training within the compliance work group. Perform related duties as assigned.

Hybrid Eligible: After completing a minimum 90-day probationary period, the position may work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of management, working remotely two days a week and working three days per week in the office.
