The Channels team at Reddit helps us achieve our mission of bringing community and belonging to everyone in the world by delivering users engaging content at the right time. We deliver hundreds of millions of push notifications and emails to Reddit users every day. With Reddit’s growth trajectory, we are solving both product and engineering problems for the next magnitude of scale . We are hiring a full stack engineer to focus on bringing the goodness of Reddit to more people.

 

How You’ll Have Impact:

As a full-stack engineer, you’ll design, build and scale products within our notifications system, with a focus on the end user experience. You’ll have an opportunity to work across the stack and with cross-functional teams such as Product, Machine Learning and Data Science. Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and ship features, experiments and products for millions of users to support our notification system
  • Communicate effectively, within the team and across disciplines. Work closely with product managers and designers to craft compelling user experiences
  • Contribute meaningfully to our team’s strategy. We give everyone a seat at the table and encourage active participation in planning our future. Don’t just come along for the ride
  • Participate in product reviews and team meetings, providing technical insight. Help scope, estimate, and prioritize between conflicting needs
  • Foster a healthy engineering culture and collaborate with other engineers

 

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years software engineering experience, and expect experience building user facing features from design to finish:
    • We are looking for someone with full stack web development experience, with a balance of experience across modern web technologies and backend service code
    • We are language agnostic when hiring but use primarily typescript in the frontend, and GraphQL, golang, python in the backend stack.
  • A past track record of Quality, for example:
    • Familiarity with unit testing and other automated testing.
    • Ability to code with resiliency and fault tolerance in mind
    • Has operational experience supporting live ops for websites
  • Collaboration skills: you work well with a team
    • You may demonstrate skills in one or more of the following: written/verbal communication, project leadership, engineering culture improvements, collaboration with cross-function outside of engineering.
