The Simulation Coordinator with Graduate Medication Education is responsible for providing the daily departmental and operational direction in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of simulation activities. The Simulation Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that faculty and staff follow established processes and support data-driven decisions in the development and execution of simulation center educational objectives.

The Simulation Coordinator works collaboratively with HCA GME Leadership, including program directors, faculty and staff, as well as hospital administration to drive simulation activities and operations. The Simulation Coordinator will employ a high degree of judgment and independence to effectively solve problems, build strong internal and external relationships, deliver well-designed processes, and maintain a thorough and organized simulation lab.

 

This position may include some travel and to support of more than one GME site within the division.

Job Summary and Qualifications

 

  • Develop the annual facility-based GME simulation budget.
  • Maintain awareness of current practices in medical simulation training.
  • Independently plan and implement special projects.
  • Manage the simulation evaluation and review process.
  • Provide both group and individual mentoring of best practices in simulation pedagogy to faculty and staff across all programs.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to prepare supporting documentation as required for ACGME accreditation standards.
  • Ensure department alignment with organizational strategic goals and key results. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and practice standards consistent with the simulation center’s mission and educational objectives.
  • Prepare summary and other reports as necessary and present reports to GME leadership.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with internal and external personnel, partners, stakeholders and constituents, including outside agencies and vendors.
  • Contribute to the development and management of simulation center budgets and accounts including gathering, analyzing and synthesizing appropriate data and reports.
  • Participate in appropriate national organizations to keep abreast of new concepts to provide optimal and continually updated technologies and service to meet the needs of the HCA GME.

 

EDUCATION

 

  • Bachelor’s degree

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge of Graduate Medical Education
  • Knowledge in simulation accreditation and standards

 

SKILLS

 

  • Ability to think strategically, critically analyze and synthesize data and scientific information
  • Ability to coordinate and facilitate the work of committees, councils, vendors, and other groups
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects
  • Ability to plan and execute complex educational initiatives, including developing work plans, promotion plans, schedules, budgets.
  • Strong working knowledge of the requirements and regulations of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education related to the planning and conducting of continuing medical education program.
  • Proficient in the use of computers and software for word processing, database management, spreadsheet, presentation graphics, and desktop publishing programs.
