Consultance Accounting Services (CAS) is seeking a virtual Accounting Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate would enjoy the following:

  • Working with multiple clients, learning their business operations, creating written procedures, and optimizing their accounting workflow.
  • Collaborating with the clients’ team and providing them with support and data to help make their business a success.
  • Implementing and utilizing best in class technology applications to provide clients with the best accounting solutions, business processes, and workflows.

Responsibilities

As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing all aspects of the day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting needs for multiple clients, including processes related to A/P and A/R, payroll, month-end close, bank and GL reconciliations, as well as financial reporting and analysis.
  • Creating and maintaining schedules for various accounts such as fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, etc.
  • Preparing journal entries for month and year-end close and performing close processes.
  • Preparing 1099s at year-end and maintaining W-9s for each client.
  • Preparing Sales & Use Tax Returns, Property Tax Returns, etc.
  • Assisting in developing and documenting processes and procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Preparing audit schedules and assisting with the preparation for annual audits.
  • Assisting in the new client on-boarding process. This process may include: (1) set-up/clean-up their books, (2) assist with the set-up of various cloud-based accounting tools, and (3) set-up tasks in our workflow management system and document client specific processes.
  • Timely and effective communication, meeting deadlines and deliverables, and providing value through exceptional accounting services and support.

Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have the following experience and attributes:

  • Strong experience working with QuickBooks.
  • 5+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience.
  • Tech savvy – experienced in using technology applications that integrate into QuickBooks, capable of learning and mastering new applications quickly and easily.
  • Strong accounting process creation and documentation experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills: outgoing, positive, high energy and a can-do attitude.
  • Ability to deal with multiple and sometimes challenging clients.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills.
  • Consistently and accurately follow established policies and procedures.
  • Work independently to complete assignments while knowing when to escalate issues and ask questions.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Accounting, Finance or Related Field.
  • Willingness to take on new and unfamiliar tasks.

Desired skills and experiences

  • Nonprofit experience preferred, especially working knowledge of financial accounting for nonprofits.
  • Experience working with multiple entities in a finance or accounting position.
