Job Overview

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Accounting Clerk will primarily be responsible for managing the Company’s accounts payable (AP) process and ensuring accurate and timely payment of invoices. This role will provide a variety of recordkeeping tasks for the Finance team, and provide back-up administrative support as needed.

Requirements

– Must live within easy commuting distance to SFU Campus Burnaby (out of province and out of country applicants will not be considered).
– Must have access to a vehicle twice per month for mail collection.
– Must be available from 9am-12pm Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities and Duties

– Process all claims-related payables and provide support documentation for project claims as needed
– Entering sales invoices, bills invoices, issuing payments and troubleshooting
– Managing Aged AP with bi-weekly reporting
– Receipt management, bank accounts and credit cards including obtaining all the backup documentation
– Prepare ACH/wire transfers
– Fill out vendor forms and other end-of-sale documents
– Support all month-end and quarter-end close processes
– Process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
– Collaborate with other departments to resolve payment issues and ensure accurate record-keeping
– Participate in ad hoc projects and initiatives as required
– Administrative tasks and other duties, as needed

Qualifications

– Associates, diploma or certification in the business/accounting field is an asset
– A minimum of 1 year of experience in working in a finance department
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Google Sheets
– You handle numbers with accuracy and high attention to detail
– You enjoy working in a collaborative work environment and coordinating with your team to juggle multiple competing priorities
– You take pride in being a self-motivated person, fast learner, team player, and creative problem solver
– You are friendly and personable with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
– You show initiative and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
– You have excellent documentation and organizational skills with an impeccable attention to detail
– You can successfully juggle multiple tasks and have outstanding time management skills
– You are accountable, reliable, punctual, and resilient, with an unwavering work ethic
